Re
cently I participated in a programming contest named BNPCHS 2009, or Bina Nusantara Programming Contest for High School Students. It was a national contest in Indonesia. Luckily I was one of the finalists. I passed the qualification round, by marking full points on 3 given problems.
The final round of the contest took place at BINUS University, Jakarta. The contest was in ACM-style mode, meaning the points we’ll get is 100 or 0 per problem (no partial score). Plus some bonus points based on the time. And one thing I like from this style was that we’ll have one balloon on our desks for accepted solutions of each problem. Well, that was amusing
.
How about the problem set?
It was tough. We were given 10 problems of varying difficulties to solve in 5 hours. The problem set was very good, I think, because it comprised many genre of problems like math, DP, greedy, geometry, etc. There was also one bonus problem that almost everyone solved.
Here you can get the problem set (in Indonesian) or view the final scoreboard.
I solved 5 problems in that 5 hours, deserving the second place and a GOLD medal. This is my first gold medal in programming contests. Yay!
